I’ve finally decided to publish with CreateSpace. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do about getting a paperback addition of the box printed for a long time. Some may say I’m indecisive, but the truth of the matter is I’m just overly thorough. That’s a good quality, right? I mean it’s not being anal or anything, is it? Maybe it’s just procrastinating.
I was trying to decide between using LightingSource, Lulu, or CreateSpace.
Lulu is a good option. They’ve been in the POD business for a long time and they seem to really know what they’re doing, but I kept reading bad reviews about them. Maybe they’ve gotten too big for their britches. I looked at their site and read up on their program. I was originally going to go with them, but then I heard about LightingSource and thought it was a better option. So I starting looking into them, but honestly the whole buying my own ISBN scared me for some reason. That ‘s completely nuts, but it did. I have no excuse for myself. I know if I keep on self-publishing which I plan to do I’ll have to get my act together and buy a block of ISBN’s. That’s the most sensible thing to do really.
Last year I joined CreateSpace to enter a contest. I didn’t think much about it after that. Then I I started reading POD reviews and CreateSpace seemed like a pretty good choice to me. They’re easy to deal with. The website doesn’t confuse or overwhelm me. They have an expanded distribution plan called the Pro Plan. It’s only 40 bucks and lets you list your book at a cheaper price than you’d be able to list it on the regular plan.
I’ve literally only just submitted my files to them. I’m just waiting for them to get reviewed. Then I’ll be able to order the proof. I can’t wait!
