I’ve been thinking a lot about this blog and what to include on it. After a lot of thought, I decided that I want to start using it for short stories, more specifically flash fiction.
Flash fiction is a very short story. Usually, in order to qualify as flash fiction, a story needs to be under 2000 words. There was a time when writing under 2000 words was my sweet spot. I couldn’t imagine writing anything longer, yet alone a whole novel. It’s been a while since I have written anything that short. Now writing a novel seems easier. That’s why I want to start writing short stories again.
I decided to give myself a flash fiction challenge. I’m going to write a new micro story every day for 30 days. It’ll be fun for me and fun for you. It will get me back into the habit of writing short and give you some interesting fiction to read. A story a day. Writing that just made me feel nervous, but I’m giving it a shot.
I’ve given myself 2 rules for this challenge. I have to write the story on the same day that I post it and the story must be under 2,000 words. That should be easy enough, right? We’ll see.
